5 Tips for 1 Hour of Wellness

We live in a fast-paced world. Our to-do lists are never complete, our minds constantly racing, and our bodies struggling to preserve energy. Rest is so important to our mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness. Rest refreshes and renews. But WHO HAS TIME TO REST? I have been on a mission to take a minimum of 30 minutes out of my week to set aside time to reset myself. Here are five things I do during my 30 minutes - 1 hour to reset your mind, body and soul. Get the most out of your short time by following these 5 tips:

1. Peaceful Area

My number one tip is to find a serene area where you can be alone. Inside or outside, lights on or off, it doesn't matter as long as you find it peaceful and free from distractions. I have taken my hour of wellness at a local beach early in the morning. I have also done one at home on the couch with the lights off. Find an area that you will not be distracted mentally, emotionally or physically. This space should calm you and leave you feelings refreshed. 

2. Face Mask

I love removing all of my makeup, cleaning my face and putting on a face mask. I have become increasingly aware of the stress I carry in my face, my muscles constantly tense and strained. Face masks clear toxins from your skin and they destress your facial features. Personally, I love charcoal masks like this one, and peel-off masks to remove my impurities and deep clean my skin.

3. Detox tea

Tea is my new favorite evening treat. Detox tea resets your internal organs and hydrates your body. I love brewing up a cup of tea to sip while my face mask sets. The smell of the tea also calms me down. I'm obsessed with Yogi's Detox Tea as it isn't too strong and tastes amazing. I also typically drink chamomile tea in the evenings because of it's calming properties. If you choose to do a night-time reset, I recommend this as well.

4. Candles

This sweet smelling item is one I would never skip. Candles relax my mind and my body. There is something so soothing about watching a candle's wick sway as the flame flickers. Candles calm my anxiety and reset my thoughts. Needless to say, these are a regular on my shopping list; TJ Maxx and Home Goods have a huge variety and are affordable.

5. Music

The specific genre of music I listen to varies based on my mood and needs. Most often, during my relaxing ritual, I will listen to mood-boosting playlists on Spotify. Some of my favorites include "Totally Stress Free," "Warm Fuzzy Feeling," and "Relax & Unwind." When choosing music, aim for ones that aren't extremely loud or overpowering. The music should softly play in the background as you take time for yourself. 

I hope you find these five tips helpful for your next time to reset. Remember, being busy can have it's perks, but you must find time for yourself as well. Reset your mind, body and spirit so you can continue to give life 100%. Self care, even for the short 30 minutes to an hour of time, can revive your passions and productivity. Enjoy!
