10 Ways to Build a Positive Morning
1 | Look At Someone You Love
This is such a simple way to start your day. Whether you turn to face your sleeping significant other, or you view a picture of your family/friends on your nightstand, viewing someone you love kickstarts your day on a positive note. Looking at that person triggers memories of good times and laughter. Enjoy those emotions as the first thing you do in the morning.
2 | Prepare The Night Before
Preparation is key to having a good morning. This could be setting out your workout clothes and mat so you can workout first thing, or even planning your meals and clothing for a day of work. Preparation reduces stress and increases the chances of fulfilling your plans.
3 | Open The Blinds
Natural light does more than just add quality to your pictures. It is known to improve your mood. Getting natural light in the morning helps your body wake up naturally as well. Open your blinds and let the beams of light in - you’ll be surprised how much this helps you begin your day.
4 | Listen to Music
Listening to tunes is a great way to lift your spirit. Turn on your speaker to play music while you’re getting ready in the morning. As it plays in the background, it is sure to bring you some extra happiness, elevate your mood, and even help you cognitively.
5 | Do a Devotional
Spending time with God is key to a positive outlook for your day. Dedicating ANY amount of time with the Lord is better than none, so there is no excuse why you can't make this happen. If you’re short on time, read your devotional book while you eat breakfast in the morning, then sit in prayer and expectation for a few extra minutes. Let this clear your mind to what’s going on around you, and allow yourself to focus on God’s plans for your day.
6 | Sip Your favorite beverage
Brew a cup of coffee or tea for a positive morning. As you drink, the liquid soothes your insides and brings comfort. There is something so stirring (pun intended) to sipping your favorite beverage first thing in the morning.
7 | Give Thanks
There is no adequate way to explain how greatly giving thanks positively impacts your day. But I’ll give it a go. Actively recognizing the blessings you’ve been given elevates your mood without a doubt. We’ve all been given things to be thankful for, and when we begin to comprehend them our souls can feel the positivity. Think of three things you are thankful for each day and let them fuel your mood.
8 | Journal Your Goals
Reflect on 1 thing you achieved the day before - no matter how minor. Then, set new goals for your day ahead. As you reflect on what you’ve achieved, let that give you encouragement to accomplish even more today. Give yourself grace, challenge yourself, and praise yourself for everything you are able to do in life.
9 | Get Fresh Air
Breathing in fresh air is very fueling. It can increase your mood, decrease stress, and keep you calm.* If you have time, go on a walk and enjoy moments to yourself in the morning. If you keep a tighter schedule, open a few windows in your house and let the breeze and scents of outdoor air bring you peace.
10 | Wear A Cute Outfit
This might seem superficial, but looking good can have positive effects. When you dress up, whether in a cute athletic wear set or in your business-best, confidence begins to exude. Think of the last time you went out in a scrubby outfit. Now think of when you tried to dress a little better. Did your confidence change? Did you have an extra pep in your step? It works for me - every time.
